How to select the best compressor and dryer system

How to select the best compressor and dryer system

Air compressors and air dryers are an integral part of many industries and the compressor and dryer system plays a vital role in meeting specific air quality and application requirements in various industries in the most energy efficient way. Compressor manufacturers in India manufacture a variety of compressor and dryer systems which vary in functions, designs, sizes and many more. The industries that want to purchase must review their requirements and purchase according to their business needs. In this article, we will be discussing how to select the best compressor and dryer system based on your business needs. You can compare the prices from many oil-free air compressor manufacturers before making your decision

Common Features Air Compressor

Few of the common features of air compressors are

1 – Pressure, Capacity and Flow Rate — Maximum Required Operating Pressure
2 – Maximum CFM Usage
3 – Power
4 – Drive System
5 – Tank Size
6 – Additional Features

Types of Air Dryers

When it comes to the types, there are basically 5 types of air dryers which we will be discussing in brief below

  1. Desiccant Dryers

Desiccant Air dryers which are also known as regenerative or regen desiccant dryers are used for soaking up non liquid desiccants like silica gel and alumina. They basically soak up the moisture. While most of the air passes through the silica bed of the first tower, the second tower dries or regenerates the desiccant.

  1. Membrane Dryers

In order to remove water vapour from the compressed air in a dew point range of 20 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit, a dehumidification membrane is used by the membrane dryers. Best things about membrane dryers are that they are quiet, do not require electricity to operate while can perform continuously.

  1. Point-of-Use Dryers

The point-of-use dryers are able to provide clean and dry air while being low maintenance, compact, plug-and-play which makes these dryers among the rest. Another amazing advantage they have is that they can run for around 12,000 hours continuously before the desiccants are replaced and in the range of -40 to -100 degrees Fahrenheit

  1. Refrigerated Dryers

Refrigerated dryers operate by condensing water in the heat exchanger and the moisture entered is condensed because the air is cooled enough to separate it from the air supply. These are the most commonly type of air dryers used in the industries

  1. Deliquescent Dryers

Operating in the dew point range of 40 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit these dryers use tablets in order to attract moisture and then dissolve. Operating costs in case of these dryers are directly dependent on the air used and no desiccant is consumed when there is no demand.

How to choose the right air dryer

Choosing the right air dryer is extremely important for your industry as it can prove to be extremely beneficial if used in the right way so below are the ways to choose the right air dryer to make the most of it

  • Choosing the right size is very important.

Choosing the right size of the air dryer is extremely important and that is the first step towards selecting the best air dryer for your industry. To make the most of your air dryer, it is very important to determine the dimensions of the upstream compressor as well as the specifications of the aftercooler

  • The dryer should be of high efficiency

In order to ensure cost effectiveness, the dryers selected should be of high efficiency. They must be able to withstand extreme operating conditions because the dryers are exposed to considerable fluctuations in compressed air demand and temperatures as well so a high efficiency requirement is a must.
